"Photographic Impressionism" is the way David Weihnacht
describes the images he creates with his collection of vintage Polaroid cameras.
Exploring the world camera in hand , David is searching for an image that
captures light and shadow, an expression of color and contrast, or a scene that
invokes a particular impression or feeling.
Within a few hours of the exposure, David adds "energy and dynamism" to the
image by forcing changes in the emulsion level of the photograph with a small
blunt tip of a burnisher. The resulting image is an impressionistic version of
the original exposure. All modifications are made on the original image within
hours of the exposure. The final photograph is scanned and resized for display
printing. Editions of 25 are printed in 24 x 24 inches, mounted on black
masonite boxes. Several coats of lacquer are brushed on to create another level
of texture to the image. Below are several images from the current
catalog. Clicking on the image will open a larger copy for your enjoyment.
